Kareana has experience working with individuals and couples struggling with effective communication, conflict resolution, boundary-setting, issues of intimacy, exploring ethical non-monogamy, and healing after infidelity. Kareana understands that every partnership is unique and facilitates clients in finding solutions that will work for them using a flexible combination of Narrative Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Kareana values the importance of sex and sexuality among individuals and within partnerships. Kareana is sex and kink positive, supportive of ethical non-monogamy, and LGBTQ2S+ affirming. Kareana practices from a client-centered approach, especially with those looking for support in navigating issues of identity. Kareana helps clients work through the dissonance between past and current experiences so they can feel confident in embracing all aspects of their identity. With incorporations of Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Kareana helps clients reconnect with their strengths so they can be confident in the things that make them unique.
Kareana is known for her abundant energy that accompanies her genuine warmth and compassion in sessions. As an experienced client herself in both individual and couples therapy, Kareana understands the confidence it takes to be vulnerable in seeking support. By tailoring her approach to the needs of each client, Kareana creates a safe space for clients to develop a strong bond with her in order to feel comfortable doing the hard work that can be the psychotherapeutic process.
When she’s not in office, you can find Kareana catching up with friends, exploring a new trail with her partner + their two dogs, breaking out a new board game (she has quite the extensive personal collection) or looking after her wedding photography business – Kareana is sure to bring her exuberance to everything and everyone she is passionate about.
