Joanna Brubacher

Therapist / MSW RSWshe/her/hers

Relational repair with a real-life twist.

Joanna meets you at the messy crossroads of life—break-ups, dual diagnoses, late-night “How did we get here?” moments—and helps you untangle the knots with equal parts clinical rigour and down-to-earth humanity. She’s a Registered Social Worker with both a BSW and an MSW, offering online sessions on evenings and weekends so support is there when life actually happens.

“Conflict isn’t proof something’s broken—it’s proof something’s ready to grow.”

More About Joanna

Joanna didn’t become a therapist by accident—she became one by living the work first. After navigating her own seasons of divorce, co-parenting, and queer identity exploration, she learned firsthand how courageous (and messy) real change can be. Those lived lessons now fuel the empathy she brings to every session, especially for clients who feel “different” or on the margins—whether that’s because of neurodiversity, non-traditional relationships, or big life resets.

A proud social-work “double grad” (BSW from the University of Waterloo, MSW from Wilfrid Laurier) with five-plus years in clinical practice, Joanna blends evidence and intuition with equal finesse. Expect strength-based, narrative conversations that help you sift through the noise, spot your inner voice, and rewrite old scripts into new possibilities. Her toolkit draws on Attachment principles, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, and solution-oriented strategies—but the secret sauce is her empathic listening, the skill she relies on to build safety and spark real insight.

Joanna believes conflict isn’t a sign something’s broken; it’s a sign something’s ready to grow. That growth happens on your timetable, which is why she offers evening, weekend, and virtual options—therapy that fits real life, not the other way around.

When she steps away from the screen, you’ll likely find Joanna out in nature refilling her own cup, championing community-based mental-health initiatives, or simply practising the quiet art of doing nothing—because rest is resistance and therapists are human too.

If you’re ready to turn friction into forward momentum, Joanna’s ready to meet you at the starting line.
