Sophia's Bio

Education: Sophia obtained her Masters in Theology with a specialization in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Wilfrid Laurier University. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from York University and a Child & Youth Work diploma from Sheridan College. Sophia is a Registered Psychotherapist and is an active member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Therapeutic Style: Sophia is a big believer in taking an approach which is empowering and promotes autonomy. Sophia can create a safe, empathetic space where you can explore and unpack your experiences, thoughts, and emotions. She understands the importance of building strong therapeutic rapport as a base for healing to begin.

Therapeutic Approach: Sophia’s approach to therapy is client centered meaning that you would be the one choosing which topic you would like to start exploring during each session, based on your level of comfort. She will start with getting to know you and your past experiences and then will work collaborativly with you to help identify what you would like to get out of your time with her. She has worked with a wide variety of demographics and understands the importance of meeting clients where they are at. Part of Sophia’s approach centers on the belief that everyone is resilient in some way, your work with her can strengthen your resiliency so that you are more equipped to face challenges that come your way. 

Personal: Sophia is a BIPOC therapist who provides a safe space for clients to be themselves without fear of feeling judged. She is open to meeting new clients from different backgrounds and loves to learn about other cultures. She also loves travelling expanding her culinary palette. 

Many Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and extended health care plans will cover services rendered by a Registered Psychotherapist.
