Why You Keep Repeating Relationship Patterns (And What to Do About It)
Wondering why relationship patterns keep repeating? Discover RISE, a 4-week online group therapy program for adults in Ontario exploring attachment, intimacy, desire, and emotional security.
Have you ever caught yourself thinking,
“Why does this keep happening in my relationships?”
Or wondered why connection, intimacy, or desire feels harder than you want it to, even when you’re self-aware and genuinely trying to do things differently?
If so, you’re not alone. And you’re not broken.
So many people – thoughtful, reflective, growth-oriented people – find themselves caught in repeating cycles in love, conflict, intimacy, and desire. The patterns shift forms, but the feelings stay the same: disconnected, stuck, or like something important is just out of reach.
Understanding why those patterns exist is the first step toward changing them. And that’s exactly what RISE is designed to help you do.
What Is RISE: Unlock Desire & Create Security?
RISE is a four-week online group therapy program for adults who want to understand the patterns shaping their relationships, and begin shifting them in a real, practical way.
Whether you’re single, dating, partnered, or moving through heartbreak, RISE offers a supported, small-group space to explore what’s driving your relationship experiences and reconnect with a more grounded, secure version of yourself.
This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply and showing up in relationships in a way that feels true to you.
What We Explore in RISERelationship patterns don’t exist in isolation, they’re rooted in how our nervous systems learned to attach, protect, and connect. Inside RISE, we work across five core areas:
1. Attachment Patterns in Real Time
We explore how your attachment style shows up in your day-to-day relationships — not just in theory, but in the moments that actually matter. Understanding your patterns is the foundation for shifting them.
2. Nervous System Regulation
When conflict, disconnection, or vulnerability shows up, our nervous systems often take over before our minds catch up. We’ll build practical tools to regulate in those moments — so you can respond instead of react.
3. Communication That Creates Clarity
Many relationship struggles come down to communication patterns that, despite good intentions, create more confusion and distance. We’ll work on expressing yourself in ways that feel honest and that others can actually receive.
4. Intimacy and Desire Patterns
Desire and intimacy are deeply connected to safety, identity, and past experiences. We’ll gently untangle the threads that may be limiting your capacity for closeness and aliveness in your relationships.
5. Emotional Safety, Confidence, and Aliveness
At the heart of RISE is helping you reconnect with a felt sense of security within yourself — so that connection with others feels less threatening and more possible.
Who Is RISE For?
RISE is for adults who are:
- Noticing repeating patterns in relationships and wanting to understand them
- Single, dating, or in a partnership and feeling stuck
- Moving through heartbreak or a relationship transition
- Already doing individual therapy and looking for the next layer of growth
- Craving deeper connection, intimacy, or a renewed sense of desire
If you’ve been doing individual work and still feel stuck — especially around connection, intimacy, or desire — group work is often the missing piece.
Why Group Therapy?Individual therapy is powerful. But there’s something uniquely healing about doing relational work in relationship — alongside others who are navigating similar experiences.
Group therapy allows you to:
- Witness and be witnessed in a supported setting
- Practice new ways of connecting in real time
- Receive perspective from people who understand
- Break the isolation that relationship struggles can create
- RISE is intentionally kept small to ensure there’s space for meaningful reflection, genuine support, and real change.

“My path to therapy began with a deep curiosity about connection, how we relate to ourselves, to each other, and to the systems we move through. That curiosity carried me from studying Psychology and Sociology to completing a Master’s in Forensic Sexology in Australia. Later, I earned an MBA in Health Care Administration and a Black Belt in Lean Process Improvement because I believe healing should be accessible, designed with clarity and care rather than complication.
Bliss Counselling + Psychotherapy has always been a team practice, united by a progressive ethos: therapy that is modern, relational, inclusive, and designed for real life. Today, I focus on shaping Bliss’s next chapter, mentoring clinicians, leading creative initiatives, and developing programs and spaces that support meaningful transformation across personal, relational, and community levels.
I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW), Registered Psychotherapist (RP), and member of AASECT. More than any credential, I am endlessly curious about people, relationships, and the process of becoming. Whether I am sitting with a client, designing a healing program, or creating space for connection, my work is always guided by care, courage, and humanity”
