Duska Males
Therapist / MA, RP (Q)she/her/hersDuska Males (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who believes that healing happens in relationship — and that the challenges we face are rarely our fault alone. Shaped by the systems, relationships, and stories we’ve lived inside, the struggles people bring to therapy make sense when seen in context. That’s where Duska starts.
Her work spans trauma, identity, relationships, sex therapy, and life transitions. She brings a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and sex-positive lens to everything she does — and a genuine ability to sit with the heavy stuff without flinching. Clients often describe her as warm, grounded, and non-judgmental; someone who takes both the person and the problem seriously.
Whether you’re navigating something painful, something confusing, or something you’ve never quite had the words for, Duska’s goal is simple: to make sure you don’t have to do it alone.
She holds a Master of Relational and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph and draws on Narrative Therapy, EFT, IFS, and other evidence-supported approaches. She is trilingual in English, French, and Serbian/Bosnian, and sees clients in-person in Waterloo and virtually across Ontario.

Duska has recently graduated from her Masters of Relational and Family Therapy (MRFT) at the University of Guelph, and holds a Bachelors of Science from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is in good standings with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) and the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy (CACFT). She is currently holding a Registered Psychotherapist – Qualifying (RP-Q) status pending her full licence in the fall of 2026.
Duska’s style can be described as warm, collaborative, grounded, and compassionate. Her goal in therapy is to help undo aloneness as clients navigate life challenges and decisions, by fostering meaningful therapeutic relationships and connections. Her work is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and sex-positive, while grounded in strength-based and research supported modalities, approaches, and interventions.
As a trained systemic, relational, and family therapist, she believes that we are in relationship with everything and everyone around us; and are therefore impacted by the micro and macro systems we are subjected to. Integrating this training and her personal views, she believes that people don’t exist in a vacuum, and therefore, problems and challenges aren’t the fault of any one individual, but can be considered a by-product of systemic challenges, barriers, and oppressions.
Duska is trilingual in Serbian/Bosnian, French, and English, which enriches her ability to understand and appreciate diverse cultural, ethnic, and spiritual perspectives. As a trilingual therapist, she brings awareness of both collective and individualistic perspectives to her work, helping her clients explore the complex intersection of culture, relationships, family expectations, identity, and personal autonomy with curiosity and compassion.
She views her clients as whole people – mind, body, and soul – rather than through the lens of diagnoses and/or disorder(s). This perspective invites her to remain curious, open and respectful to each client and their unique lived experience. This also enables her to remain flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of the therapeutic journey.
Outside of being a therapist, Duska enjoys living life in the moment and trying new things. She explores new recipes and music on the daily, and is passionate about self-expression through art, painting, and fashion.
