Melissa works with clients in the areas of ADHD and neurodiversity, women’s health and relationships, emotional development and expression, attachment and trauma. Melissa is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a BA in Psychology and Anthropology, Master’s in Social Work, a Master of Arts in Anthropology, and a Ph.D. in Anthropology. She has received formal education and training in multiple areas including emotionally focused therapy, sex therapy, EMDR, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, narrative, and attachment based therapies as well as expressive arts and play therapies. Melissa has a special interest in helping individuals to have more meaningful, compassionate and secure relationships with themselves and others as they navigate relationships, trauma, grief and loss and/or living with neurodiversity.
In addition to TV appearances and being featured in magazines and media, Melissa has received multiple awards for her research, which has been implemented in hospitals, schools, and counselling agencies. She has published a book and several academic journal articles. She has taught courses at Western University, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Sheridan College, and spoken at academic and community forums.
